标 题: POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN NEUROSCIENCE at Univ. Of Utah
发信站: BBS 未名空间站 (Thu Mar 27 23:41:51 2008)
Employer:
University of Utah
Job Location:
Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS IN NEUROSCIENCE
We use a combination of powerful molecular genetics and cellular
electrophysiology approaches to study signal transduction in image and non-
image-forming vision. Some representative works can be found at: http://uuhsc.utah.edu/MoranEyeCenter/research/faculty/primary/fu_lab.htm
We are working with an emerging exciting new animal model, Xenopus
tropicalis, to study disease and basic mechanisms in neuroscience with
cutting-edge molecular genetic approaches. There are less than 10 labs in
the world working on this model currently. We are establishing the first
transgenic X. tropicalis core facility at the state of Utah. Feel free to
google it on the web for more info. Our lab is on the 5th floor of the brand
new Moran Eye Research Tower with state-of-the-art imaging (electron and
confocal microscopy) and molecular biology systems. Postdocs have their own
offices separated from the lab. Utah is a very beautiful place to live,
surrounded by five famous national parks like Yellow Stone. Salt Lake City
is safe, clean, very affordable, and offers best public transportation to
postdocs and student (free). The city infrastructure is outstanding
attributable to the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Candidates should have Ph.D.s in life sciences and motivation for high-
quality research. Experience with cellular electrophysiology is preferred,
but not required. Interested candidates should send a cover letter,
curriculum vitae, and names of three references to Dr. Yingbin Fu at e-mail:
[email protected]. Review of completed applications will begin
immediately and continue until the position is filled. University of Utah is
Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.

PhD Student Position And Postdoctoral Position Available
The Shen laboratory in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the
University of Minnesota invites applications for one PhD student position
and one postdoctoral position in the field of biomaterials and tissue
engineering. The Shen group focuses on rational design and synthesis of
protein-based and protein-polymer hybrid biomaterials for neural tissue
engineering and cardiovascular tissue engineering. During animal development
, cell fate commitment and tissue formation are guided by tightly regulated
microenvironmental signals. Using biomaterials to define and control
microenvironmental cues that recapitulate the key features of developmental
and physiological processes is one of the most important strategies in
tissue engineering. Shen group is using interdisciplinary approaches
encompassing material science, protein engineering, chemistry, developmental
biology, cell biology, and microfabrication technologies to (1) develop
novel smart biomaterials; (2) investigate cell-material interactions; (3)
regenerate and repair tissues; (4) create artificial stem cell niches.
The ideal candidates will have research experiences in one or more of the
following areas:
· Genetic engineering and protein expression
· Protein-polymer conjugation
· Microfabrication
· Tissue culture and engineering
Outstanding students who have earned a Master’s degree and plan to pursue a
PhD degree in the USA are encouraged to apply for the PhD student position.
Admission can be as soon as the spring semester of 2008.
Candidates should send their CV (including the names and the contact
information of references). Candidates for the PhD student position should
also send a copy of transcripts and a copy of GRE and TOFEL test score
reports. Please send the application documents to:
